All breeders using the services of Stallion Station Dirk Ahlmann acknowledge and accept the following terms for all current and future business relationships.
Unless otherwise stated, the breeding and insemination regulations of the Holsteiner Verband shall apply in addition.
Stallions may be viewed by prior telephone appointment. Please observe stable quiet hours from 12:30 to 14:00.
The breeding season begins on February 1 and ends on August 15.
Notice
Stallions, especially young stallions in their first breeding season, are only entered into the HB I studbook after successfully completing their performance test (HLP).
Full registration of foals is only possible after this entry. If a stallion is not admitted to HB I, only birth certificates can be issued by the breeding associations.
The associated risk is borne solely by the breeder.
Semen Orders
Orders can be placed as follows:
Monday to Friday until 10:00 a.m.
Weekends until 9:00 a.m.
International orders generally until 9:00 a.m.
No international shipments are made on weekends.
For highly demanded stallions, advance reservation is recommended.
The following information is required for each order:
Requested stallion
Name and full address of the mare owner
Breeding association and membership number
Shipping address
Veterinarian, AI technician, or authorized inseminator including full address
Mare details: name, life number, pedigree, date of birth
Delivered semen may only be used for the registered mare.
In case of high demand, a maximum of two insemination doses per heat cycle will be provided.
Semen Shipping
Shipping costs are charged separately.
Courier deliveries from Saturday to Sunday are more expensive. No shipping takes place from Sunday to Monday.
No guarantee is given for timely delivery once the shipment has been properly handed over to the courier. Liability for transport damage is excluded.
Complaints must be reported:
Weekdays until 12:00 noon
Weekends until 9:00 a.m.
Late notifications will result in the transport costs being charged.
International shipping is possible from Monday to Thursday, in some cases also on Friday.
Additional costs for international shipping include:
Official veterinary health certificate
Transport container
International shipments are only made against full prepayment of the stud fee.
Conditions for Fresh and Frozen Semen
Stud Fee Splitting
The insemination fee applies to the entire breeding season and is payable in all cases. It is due at the first insemination.
No entitlement exists to credits, refunds, or discounts.
Not included are:
EU certificate
Shipping costs
Veterinary costs
Boarding costs
The pregnancy fee is due upon confirmed pregnancy on day 60 after the last insemination.
Proof of non-pregnancy must be submitted without request by September 15 at the latest.
Late submission will incur a processing fee of €17.85 including VAT.
If no certificate is provided, the pregnancy fee will be charged automatically.
Use of Frozen Semen
Frozen semen may only be used for:
Conventional artificial insemination
Embryo transfer
ICSI or comparable techniques require prior approval.
Only one foal may be produced per stud fee. After a successful insemination, no further use is permitted.
If additional mares are inseminated, this must be reported immediately and the stud fee will be charged accordingly.
Unused doses must be returned within 14 days after a successful insemination. Transport costs are borne by the mare owner.
Late Inseminations
Mares first inseminated after July 1 that do not become pregnant will have the insemination fee credited toward the following year.
If the stud fee increases, the difference will be charged.
Used straws must be returned before additional frozen semen is issued.
Embryo Transfer
Planned embryo transfer must be declared before the first insemination.
The veterinarian must confirm this in writing and submit the documentation.
The stud fee is payable for each recovered embryo.
A discount may be granted in the case of multiple successful flushes.
Sale of Frozen Semen
Resale is generally prohibited.
Any exception requires written approval from the stallion station.
The transport container must be provided by the customer.
Rental is possible:
€15 per day
€25 one-time nitrogen fee
Miscellaneous
If a stallion becomes unavailable during the breeding season, frozen semen may be used or another stallion may be selected if possible. The stud fee will be adjusted accordingly.
If a mare does not conceive after three cycles with the same stallion, a change of stallion is recommended.
The breeding certificate will only be issued after full payment has been received.
The stallion owner is only liable in cases of gross negligence.
This also applies to damages occurring during boarding and insemination procedures.
No liability is accepted for damages caused by third parties.
The horse owner must provide proof of liability insurance upon request.
Boarded horses are not insured by the stallion station.
